Deaths related to T-cell depletion in Protocol 126
Protocol 126 consisted of multiple stages. The first stage of the experiment added the antibodies alone to donor marrow and had no effect on killing T-cells. Subsequent stages added a series of enzymes to the antibodies, killing 99.9 percent of T-cells but increasing graft failures. This chart shows the minimum number of patients who had graft failure. Each stage of the experiment but the first was halted as soon as two patients suffered graft failure.
More patients may have died from graft failure later,
but a final report was never written.
