Rowing, men's lightweight four
Schneider, 27, a Cascade High School/UW graduate who trains at Princeton, was a 1996 bronze medalist in the lightweight four at the Atlanta Games. He also won a gold medal in the eight at the 1999 Pan American Games. A four-time national team member, Schneider started rowing when he was 15 years old at the Everett Rowing Association. He turned to rowing after being cut from his high school soccer team. He was the smallest member of the UW's varsity eight in 1995, and stroked the boat his senior year. The Olympic bronze was part of the first set of medals ever awarded in this event at the Olympics.
