Swimming, 100-meter breaststroke

At 16, she's younger, less experienced, and less known than most of the women she'll likely face in the starting blocks in Sydney, but she is fearless. She bettered her U.S. record in her specialty at the trials in August. The Rogers High School student is the reigning U.S. champion in the 100-meter breaststroke. She has the second-fastest 100 breaststroke time in the world.
