McGowan, 21, the 1999 U.S. double sculls champion, this time will go in the quad sculls. First began rowing with the Everett Rowing Association in 1995. A four-time national team member (two junior, two senior), McGowan won the Double Sculls Challenge Cup at the 1999 Henley Royal Regatta. He also won the 1999 U.S. National Team Trials in the double sculls and the national titles in the double sculls and quad sculls in 1998.
