Malloch, 22, was a late-comer, named to the team in late August. He'll race over 500 meters in the single sprint. He began his paddling in high-kneel canoe racing on Green Lake as a member of the Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club. He is a junior in business at UW, but will skip this term while he is in Sydney. He was the first U.S. canoeist at the World Championship final in 1995, was fifth at the Junior World Championship in 1996 and won two bronze medals at the Pan-Am Games in 1999.
