Rowing, women's eight

Jones, 27, a Stanwood High School/University of Massachusetts graduate, was a silver medalist at the 1998 and '99 women's eight World Championships. She won gold medals in the eight and four at the 2000 nationals, gold in the quad sculls and the eight in the 1999 nationals, and won gold on an Australian course with the eight in 1999. A four-time national team member, she began rowing in 1992 at Pacific Lutheran with the men's crew. Her spine was once punctured by an oncoming shell, and she had to undergo surgery to walk again.
