Jackson, a Seattle native and former Garfield High student who recently staged a major boxing-career turnaround, won the Western Region trials at 132 pounds/60 kg in February. He finished second in the Olympic trials, but moved onto the team after the first-place finisher, Marshall Martinez, resigned. Jackson, 24, struggled to make weight this summer. He was the national champion in 1997.
