Passing the torch On Tuesday, December 4, the Olympic torch begins the American leg of its journey from Athens, Greece, to Salt Lake City, Utah. About 11,500 torchbearers will travel by foot, train, ship, dogsled, horse-drawn sleigh, skis, skates and other modes of transport.
