French, 23, was selected to the Olympic team Aug. 25 when Michelle Akers retired from international competition. A Kennedy High School grad from Kent, French is a University of Portland graduate who has been playing with the national team. French played in the Australian Cup in January 1999 and was a member of the 1998 Under-21 Nordic Cup championship team, She captained the youth national team for the past three years.
