One of four Rainiers on the U.S. Olympic baseball team, Franklin, a right-handed pitcher, had an 11-4 record with a 3.37 earned-run-average when he was chosen for the Olympic squad in August. He is 6 feet 3 and 165 pounds, and is 27 years old. He is third in the Pacific Coast League in ERA and strikeouts. The eight-year pro made is Major League debut last season, appearing in six games with the Mariners. He tossed a complete game no-hitter in 1997 when with Memphis.
