Artistic gymnastics
The artistic discipline includes three types of competition. In team competition and around individual competition, gymnasts perform on each apparatus and their scores for each are combined. In individual competition, athletes compete on a single apparatus. The competition area is a 12-meter square with a 1-meter-wide safety border.

Trampoline
The trampoline discipline is new to the Olympics this year. It will feature both men's and women's events with individual competition only. There will be 12 competitors in each of the men's and women's events. Gymnasts perform routines in which they must display a specific set of skills that includes various combinations of somersaults, twists and landings.
