Jeremy Reed

Contract status: Signed through 2005.

Acquired: From Chicago White Sox, with C Miguel Olivo and INF Mike Morse, for RHP Freddy Garcia, C Ben Davis and cash, on June 27, 2004.

Personal: Graduated in 1999 from Bonita High School in La Verne, Calif., where he played baseball and soccer. Reed played baseball at Long Beach State, and was drafted in the second round by the White Sox in 2002.

2005 outlook: Reed will be the Mariners' center fielder, and will hit second. He hit .397 in a late-season callup last year. Reed is a stolen-base threat — he stole 45 in 2003 and 26 last season in the minors.
