2005 outlook: Guardado is the Mariners' closer, although he got off to a slow start this spring because of a strained hamstring. He says he'll be ready by opening day, but that still looks iffy. Last season, Guardado missed the last two months after coming up with a torn rotator cuff. He also had surgery on his left knee. The knee injury had contributed to his shoulder injury. Mariners are hoping for a return to 2002-03 form, when he saved 86 games for Minnesota.
