Gil Meche Out pitch: Four-seam fastball A classic two- and four-seam power pitcher. He throws a change, slider and curve, too, and as is often the case, finds it easier to throw his slider for strikes. But when he has the curve working is when he has those great starts we remember. He developed a quality change back in 2000 when he lost velocity on his fastball, so he's no longer a pure power guy. Most power pitchers use the change simply to make the fastball look harder, but Gil's is good enough he is confident of getting outs with it. Comments by pitching coach Bryan Price.
