Stop 5 McGregor's Store Building, Hooper This impressive brick building operated as a store from 1916 to 1977 and is being restored by volunteers for use as a community center. A benefit for two girls injured in a car crash recently was held here. Take the Hooper exit off Highway 26 and, after a scenic 3-1/2 miles bordering the Palouse River, you arrive at the store building. The road will put you back on Highway 26 in another 1-1/2 miles. The Stop 5 site we recommended in 2002: Codger Pole in Colfax, the totem pole commemorating 1988 replay of 1938 Colfax-St. John football game.
