WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week

Class 4A

Ryan Appleby, Stanwood basketball — Had 31 points and 11 assists in a victory over Oak Harbor.

Leitawsha Bronson, Kent-Meridian basketball — Scored 28 and 19 points in victories over Tahoma and Kentwood, respectively.

Class 3A

Rodrick Stewart, Rainier Beach basketball — Averaged 27 points in three victories while helping the Vikings move up in USA Today's rankings to No. 1 in the nation.

Kelsey Ingram, Mercer Island gymnastics — Won all four individual events and the all-around title in a three-way meet against Bellevue and Mount Si.

Class 2A

Class 1A

Brent Buhtz, Ocosta wrestling — The junior, a Mat Classic participant the past two seasons, won the 125-pound championship at the Bellevue Christian tournament.

Kristin Brandt, Warden basketball — Had a combined 37 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and 12 steals in victories over Lake Roosevelt and Goldendale.

Class B

Aaron Colby, Mansfield basketball — Scored 30 and 26 points in back-to-back games, including six three-pointers in one game.

Josie Regan, Summit basketball — Averaged 22 points in a loss to Ingraham and a win over Snohomish County Christian.

The WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week are selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and The Seattle Times from nominations by athletic directors around the state.
