WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week

Class 4A

Cailin Magruder, Decatur girls golf: Magruder, a senior, helped the Gators (6-0) stay unbeaten with three victories, including an upset of Auburn that ended the Trojans' 23-match win streak. Magruder has been medalist in five of Decatur's six matches.

Adam Macomber, Port Angeles football: The Roughriders junior rushed for 312 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries, and returned a kickoff 86 yards for a score in a 56-6 victory over Bremerton. He is averaging 207 rushing yards per game.

Class 3A

Maggie Olson, Mount Si volleyball: Olson, a senior setter and team captain, had 30 assists against Cedarcrest and 13 aces against Liberty to help the Wildcats (4-0) stay unbeaten.

Ty Stanley, Columbia River football: Stanley intercepted three passes, bringing his season total to eight, as the Vancouver school held crosstown rival Skyview to 32 passing yards while winning 31-3.

Class 2A

Kirsten Abel, Steilacoom volleyball: The sophomore had 27 digs, five aces, six assists and four kills in two matches to help the Sentinels improve to 6-0.

Robert Bennedsen, Vashon football: Bennedsen, a senior, carried 48 times for 401 yards, fifth most in state history, in a 36-19 victory over North Mason. He scored four touchdowns.

Class 1A

Rachel Bare, Goldendale volleyball: Bare had eight aces, 11 digs, 25 kills and was 42 for 42 on serves in three Timberwolves victories.

Danny Wood, Toledo football: The senior ran for 382 yards and eight touchdowns in a 69-52 win over Raymond. Wood, who played only three quarters, scored on runs of 61, 4, 64, 69, 34, 7, 25 and 8 yards.

Class B

Rachel Motteram, Garfield-Palouse volleyball: Motteram, a senior middle blocker, led the top-ranked Vikings to seven victories with 60 kills, 18 aces, 35 digs and 15 stuff blocks.

Jed Headly, Liberty Christian football: Headly carried 24 times for 282 yards and scored all four touchdowns in the Richland school's 28-22 win over Colton-Pullman Christian. The national high-school steer wrestling champion also had 10 tackles, six assisted tackles and two quarterback sacks.

The WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week are selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and The Seattle Times from nominations by athletic directors around the state.
