WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week

Class 4A

Leon Jackson, Pasco football — Jackson, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior, rushed for 221 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns as the fourth-ranked Bulldogs (12-1) beat Evergreen of Vancouver 24-6 in a semifinal game. Jackson is a two-time state sprint champion in the 100 meters.

Class 3A

Tracy Ford, Bellevue football — The 5-foot-9, 170-pound senior rushed 17 times for 192 yards and two touchdowns and intercepted a pass from his cornerback position as the two-time defending state champion Wolverines (12-1) blanked top-ranked Issaquah 21-0 in the semifinals.

Class 2A

Jordan Slesk, Meridian football — Slesk, a junior, completed 20 of 33 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns as Meridian beat La Center 28-26 to advance to the state-title game. The victory pushed the top-ranked Trojans' record to 13-0.

Class 1A

Jevon Butler, Archbishop Murphy football — Butler, a 6-2, 205-pound senior, rushed for 199 yards and a touchdown in a 27-6 semifinal victory over Cascade Christian. It was the 25th consecutive victory for the top-ranked Wildcats (13-0), the defending state champions.

Class B

T.J. Conley, DeSales football — Conley completed 19 of 27 passes for 308 yards in a 41-6 semifinal win over Cathlamet to become only the second quarterback in state history to pass for more than 10,000 career yards. The Irish senior has 10,117 yards, trailing only Brian Lindgren (12,575), a former DeSales quarterback. Conley ran for two touchdowns and passed for three for the Irish (11-0).

The WIAA/Seattle Times State Athletes of the Week are selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and The Seattle Times from nominations by athletic directors around the state.
