Public courses by difficulty: Most difficult

The difficulty is is determined by the course's Slope Rating. If a course has a high Slope Rating, it is relatively more difficult for the average golfer than a course with a low Slope Rating. Accordingly, under the Slope System, the average golfer receives more handicap strokes playing a course with a high Slope Rating than he does playing a course with a low Slope Rating. The average Slope Rating is 113.

Slope Ratings are not available for par 3s and some short courses. Only 18-hole courses are eligible for this list.
