Ms. Bibbs' Class in Birmingham, Ala.

Hello!

I am Helen Bibbs, a third grade teacher at Inglenook Elementary in Birmingham, Alabama. I am an African American with 17 African American students in my class.

Our most recent project was a Science Grow Lab. We used the Wisconsin Fast Growing Seed. We planted and observed daily, and recorded the seeds' progress.

When we return in January we will harvest our plants.

Some of the activities we have planned for MLK are: read several biographies and discuss them daily, view videos, listen to audio cassettes of Dr. King's speeches, listen to music about the civil rights era, art projects and student research and reports to demonstrate comprehension.

For research we plan to use reference sources, and online research as well as primary sources such as various faculty and staff members and family who participated in the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement.
