Questions for candidates

What are the biggest differences between you and your opponent(s)? My experience as a Washington State Patrol Sergeant, father, classroom volunteer, and coach give me a unique perspective on the issues. I have 30 years of experience in law enforcement and six years experience in the State Legislature. I have a solid record of improving our schools, roadways and public safety.

Do you support the initiative to raise the sales tax 1 penny to raise money for schools and higher education? I support this initiative because it will provide a dedicated funding source for education. We are in need of more space for our graduating seniors to go on to higher education. We need to attract and retain our teachers with competitive salaries.

What do you think of the initiative to expand the use of slot machines to reduce taxes? I do not support the initiative to expand gambling and slot machines.
