Questions for candidates

What are the biggest differences between you and your opponent(s)? I am supported small business groups and those who create jobs that support families. My opponent is supported by union bosses. I have the support of hard working individuals who have their families well being in mind.

What are your highest priorities for state government? If you had to close the projected $1 billion gap between state government revenues and expenses, how would you do it? ACCOUNTABILITY I will demand accountability for the way our tax dollars are spent in Olympia. Our current system does not inform us on how our money is being used. We need to hold our state representatives accountable for overspending and careless misuse of revenue. Audit state agencies to detect and eliminate waste and abuse, and improve the delivery of state services. Require state agencies to prove they are spending existing funds efficiently and effectively through annual reports given to taxpayers. The government exists for the public, not the public for the government. Encourage use of the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) on a regular basis. If legislators say they do not have the time to research every accounting ledger, send someone who can. It is their responsibility!

Do you support the initiative to raise the sales tax 1 penny to raise money for schools and higher education? We need to have transparency first. The conversation of tax increase is premature. Citizens deserve to have open books and accountability for how their tax dollars are being spent. We need independent audits first to determine the level of need versus misdirected funds.

Are you happy with Washington's new primary? Are you supporting the initiative that would give Washington a "top 2" primary system that the parties oppose? I am not happy with the new primary.
