Questions for candidatesWhat are the biggest differences between you and your opponent(s)? 1. Washington must become "business friendly" to grow our economy and provide jobs, my opponent has a low support voting record in support of business issues (29% AWB) 2. I have years of management and leadership experience to work with bi partisan support on finding bold and innovative solutions. What are your highest priorities for state government? If you had to close the projected $1 billion gap between state government revenues and expenses, how would you do it? Reduce the size of government, explore new ideas in funding and privatization of state functions, performance audits to increase efficiency. We must be willing to discuss all ideas and think "outside the box" to find new ways of financing priority needs. Do you support the initiative to raise the sales tax 1 penny to raise money for schools and higher education? No Are you happy with Washington's new primary? Are you supporting the initiative that would give Washington a "top 2" primary system that the parties oppose? I believe we should explore primary options - however the purpose of the primary is to select candidates from parties for a general election. What do you think of the initiative to expand the use of slot machines to reduce taxes? Three are two issues here: one do we want to expand gambling, I am against expansion. The second is should existing gambling have equal opportunities with those on the reservations, "a level playing field", I tend to favor that.
