Questions:

1. What's the biggest issue county government faces in the next two years? How would you address it?
Ensuring fair and equitable assessments. Homes are often assessed for far too much, while some commercial property is assessed for far too little. I will implement consistent and fair assessments, correct current inequities and make the appeals process fairer. Public confidence must be restored.

2. How does your experience qualify you for this position?
I have extensive experience in real estate and tax matters, representing homeowners and taxpayers in my law practice. I have worked as a teacher, researcher and attorney. I am familiar with the King County tax-assessment system, have seen what its problems are and know what I can do to fix them.

3. Is the growing reliance on property taxes good for voters? Should the county seek other revenue?
Property taxes are already very high, so increasing them will make tax burdens even more unbearable. Government should focus on spending less money and making existing revenue go further, instead of trying to raise taxes. Voter approval should be required for all property and other tax increases.
