1.  Describe your philosophy on how the state should manage its public lands. Talk specifically about how you would approach resolving conflicts between resource protection and resource use or extraction.
Trust. Respect. Enhance. Enforce. Sustainable. These are the values that I stand for -- demonstrated by my work in our forests over the last two decades. The KEY is SUSTAINABILITY, providing a quality environment AND capital resources for our schools, our communities and the next generations.

2.  How would you balance management of state-owned timber lands for recreation, so that natural resources -- such as threatened or endangered species -- are protected, but money for school construction is maximized?
The legal expression of SUSTAINABLE resource management is in the Forest Practices Act. This law guides us to utilize science to adapt our management practices to ensure true resource protection. My practical knowledge and leadership will use this law to ensure sustainable resource management.

3.  What do you think should be done about people who live illegally aboard boats?
As a licensed Merchant Mariner and oil-spill responder, I know the positive environmental contributions by live-aboards. They have reported oil spills and helped clean them up. I must conclude that houseboats meeting Coast Guard requirements and residing in licensed marinas should be legal.
