Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has declared that blanket-primary elections like Washington's violate political parties' constitutional rights, what form of new primary-election system would you propose adopting? |
 |
| |
I prefer to provide voters with their choice of party ballot. We can vote our party, and discard unused ballots. However, the nominating process isn't owned by government. We can use teamwork to establish a sensible approach, to the extent that government should be involved, through the Legislature. |

Washington voters have been voting by mail in increasing numbers in recent elections. What do you think of this trend? What changes would you make? |
 |
| |
Vote-by-mail is a sensible program. I believe it makes government more accessible to those in remote locations. It allows citizens to vote with more convenience. It is environmentally friendly (avoids thousands driving to the polls). It should remain as an option, and should be widely promoted. |

What would you do to increase voter registration and voter participation? |
 |
| |
I will promote a program to get elected leaders to make themselves available to speak on citizenship participation, partnering with our educators; work with concert promoters to reach out to youth, promoting voting as something cool; and ask seniors to provide even greater leadership on voter registration. |
