Seattle Times endorsements: Cole, Butler in 32nd legislative district

Editorial Page staff
The Seattle Times

The 32nd District wraps about the top of Lake Washington, taking in the northwest corner of Seattle moving east through Shoreline and Lake Forest Park. The district is marked by another distinctive pattern, sending Democratic women to the Legislature who care about education.

Nothing is likely to change this election. In House Pos. 1, Democrat Patty Butler, a local PTA leader, survived a primary recount to win by a handful of votes over a Shoreline educator. This area cares about schools. Butler is endorsed over Republican James Shea.

Veteran legislator Grace Cole is endorsed for another term from House Pos. 2. The Democrat, who is the ranking minority member on the House Education Committee, is easily favored over Republican Norine Federow.
