Way too hot

Oh . . . my . . . nasty, nasty, sick, sick, cheap, trashy, porno for sure, our poor children, oh the things that entertain some people (Portraits, "Sells Hot From The Oven," March 6). You really do "take the cake."

I would think any town would want you out fast — but then we are living in trying days, aren't we? When I think of all the beautiful cakes I have seen in my life and your 7-inch-round penis cake — what are we coming to?

Insight appreciated

I just wanted to compliment the magazine highly on three recent pieces that I've really appreciated: "Age-Old Issue" (March 13), which gives excellent insight into generational differences in the workplace; the article about babies' brains ("The Baby Brain," March 6) — fascinating; and the piece about Seattle's "Dis-ease" ("Seattle N(ice)," Feb. 13). This last was the first thing I've ever read on a subject that is very familiar to me (I've lived in Seattle for 45 years). I appreciated the clarity and thoughtfulness of the article, and the author's willingness to name and describe a phenomenon which, in my opinion, we Seattleites need to understand better.

Outside the comfort zone

I appreciated your article on Jeffrey Overstreet ("Faith in Film," Feb. 27). Thanks for spending the time to get to know him. As a movie lover and a Christian, I really enjoy his reviews and especially the thought he puts into them. I also grew up in a home where swear words were counted, and I have learned to appreciate art that is outside of my comfort zone. I am a pastor of a church of nontraditional Christians who, like Jeffrey, believe in interacting with culture and hopefully being a positive influence in it. I always appreciate when someone in the traditional media gives a Christian a chance to show that we are human, too.
