| I turned 50 in May and I didn't want 50 to be the beginning of the end of life. I wanted it to be the beginning of a new life. I'm changing how I think about food, learning how to relax and take care of myself, cleanse my body through bathing, being more comfortable with my body.
In February, I was 305 pounds. Today, I'm 260. Being a large woman, there's always some self-esteem involved. Things around sensuality and sexuality. I used to see myself as a rotund alien, and today I see myself as a woman. At the spa, everybody wears the same little pink bonnet and the same little robe, and everybody is the same!

| I did my first marathon in Hawaii. My goal was 8 hours, and I did it in 7 hours 57 minutes. The process of training was such a buildup and huge challenge. I lost 40 pounds and gained a lot of discipline, but also, motivation and inspiration I hadn't experienced before. Crossing that finish line was the most amazing high I'd ever felt. Afterward, I was depressed that it was over. This was a place to soothe my emotions and get back in touch, to regain inspiration.
