Retired Navy Capt. Pete Soverel is a lecturer in international studies at UW and on the adjunct faculty at the Jackson School. He served under Presidents Reagan and Carter and served as White House defense liaison to NATO. He is a military strategist and taught at the Naval War College.

He said it: Go read their national-security strategy. It says right out front what they want to do: Rogue states are going to go away. You're going to defend the United States from terrorism and you are going to promote a democracy. So if you're not a democracy you're in the cross hairs.
