Opt out of telemarketing

• To opt out of telemarketing done by members of the Direct Marketing Association, which the group says would affect the vast majority of such calls, write to:

Telephone Preference Service
ATTN: Preference Service Manager
Direct Marketing Association
POB 3079
Grand Central Station NY 10163

Include your full name, street address (including apt. # if appropriate), city, state & zip. Sign the letter. Include your phone number. Consumers can include up to two phone numbers.

• To opt out of receiving junk mail, write to the same address, except ATTN: "Mail Preference Service" and follow the same instructions on what to include, except leave out the phone numbers. Again, sign it.

It's also possible to opt out of telemarketing and direct mail solicitations by visiting: www.the-dma.org/ although there's a $5 fee.

• To opt out of receiving junk email, go to www.the-dma.org/consumers/
optoutform_emps.shtml
and fill out the form. There is no charge.
