Join Three Dollar Bill Cinema, producers of the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, at its third annual Academy Awards party at Re-bar, 1114 Howell St., Seattle. Toast the Oscars and help fight hunger at the third annual KOMO-AM 1000 Oscar Party on Sunday, March 24, 5-9 p.m. at Pacific Place Cinemas in downtown Seattle. Tickets are $15, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Northwest Harvest. This event is almost sold out, but you can call KOMO at 206-516-3067 for last-minute ticket info, or just show up at Pacific Place and try your luck (tickets will be sold at the door if space permits).
Hop a ferry to Vashon Island for the Vashon Film Society's annual Oscar bash. Festivities start at 4 p.m. at the Vashon Theater. An $8 donation covers the pre-party, Oscars telecast, food and beverages. For more information, write vashonfilm@attbi.com.
Oscar AIDS benefit canceled: Alas, the fifth annual Oscar Night America Gala, hosted by FilmAid as a benefit for the Lifelong AIDS Alliance and Bailey-Boushay House, has been canceled. Ticket holders should call FilmAid at 206-957-1770 to have their ticket cost donated directly to the beneficiaries, or to receive a full refund.
