Baguette Box (Capitol Hill)
At this industrial-looking 15-seat sandwich cafe, the "Drunken Chicken" (paying homage to the crispy clucker served at owner Eric Banh's Vietnamese restaurant, Monsoon) is a finger-lickin' favorite. And like all of the sandwiches offered here (including a mighty tomato-sauced meatball number; gorgeous gravlax with slivered radish and onion; grilled yellow squash and eggplant piled high with roasted peppers and onions), it's built on a broad, crusty baguette. Whatever your pleasure (a bowl of the day's soup? a side of pork tongue?) this filling fare is bound to cure what ails you: as long as what ails you is an appetite for adventure.
