Washington guard Sara Mosiman out for season?

Washington senior starter Sara Mosiman could possibly be out for the season due to a shin injury, coach Tia Jackson said via a Pac-10 teleconference call this morning. Jackson had just received word herself, told Mosiman (pictured right by UW) would undergo surgery on Wednesday.
The procedure could require anywhere between two to three months of rehabilitation, but the program should know more today. Regardless, Mosiman joins F Lydia Young (knee), walk-on G Amanda Johnson (knee), and F Liz Lay (knee) on the sideline due to surgery.
"I think we can bounce back and continue to move forward," said Jackson of the Huskies being able to weather another injury. The string is reminiscent of the hit Washington suffered in its 8-22 campaign last year.
Mosiman improved from that junior year, however, averaging 7.5 points on 40.4 percent shooting from the field this season. A 5-foot-9 SG, Mosiman also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in six starts. She teamed with F Sami Whitcomb as a defensive motivator and was able to equally create her own shot.
Sophomore Kristi Kingma, who's already rebounded from kidney stones and an ankle injury, will replace Mosiman in the starting unit. Washington (4-4) travels this week to play No. 16 Michigan State (7-3) on Saturday.
"When you go down four players, that hurts us a little bit," Jackson said. "But at the same time, our kids have shown tremendous resilience and have put forth a really good effort in practice the past few days."
