DUI update: MVP Diana Taurasi spent day in jail
Posted by Jayda Evans
Phoenix G Diana Taurasi spent a day in jail prior to departing to Russia to join her Spartak Moscow team. The incarceration stemmed from a July traffic stop in Phoenix where the WNBA's MVP was cited for extreme DUI and speeding. Those charges were dropped after a judge suspended nine days of Taurai's sentence, leaving just the DUI. Taurasi's blood-alcohol level was 0.17 percent -- twice the legal limit in Arizona (0.08 percent).
Taurasi, who won a second championship with the Mercury earlier this month, said the ordeal changed her in more ways than people would ever know. She was named Finals MVP and the league MVP, averaging 22.3 points and 5.9 rebounds during the regular season.
You can read more about the case here.
