Finding Storm players overseas

Posted by Jayda Evans

BurseJ.jpgWhile All-Stars G Sue Bird and F Lauren Jackson have yet to join their Spartak Moscow team in Russia, C Janell Burse is making waves in Poland. She is pictured right by Marek, a Polish basketball fan who sent the images via Twitter account @rzymi. And C Suzy Batkovic-Brown is playing well in Australia.

Bird and Jackson are expected in Russia soon. Jackson, an Australian native, still has a month remaining for rehabilitating the stress fractures found in her lower back. But she told hometown papers that she has no intentions of slowing down, wanting to play forever. The WNBA's two-time MVP believes she can pull at least five more years out of her body.

No use in reinventing the wheel, so checkout the Storm's site for direct links to the players' teams overseas. It includes F Swin Cash, who announced on her site that she signed to play in China. Her season begins Nov. 7.

So far, seven Storm players are globetrotting, again. C Ashley Robinson, who apparently nixed her Twitter account, is home in Texas. F Camille Little is in North Carolina while Katie Gearlds is in Indiana.

The trio is still waiting on leads to head overseas. But Robinson, for one, said she won't accept a deal unless it's lucrative because what she needs to improve on -- offense -- she can do stateside.

PG Shannon Johnson isn't being followed by the Storm site, announcing her retirement prior to Game 2 of Seattle's opening round playoff game against Los Angeles. Johnson is playing in Spain.
