The Shot: Revisited
Posted by Jayda Evans
Some may have their own replays of what is being called the greatest play in Storm history, but just in case you were at KeyArena for the 75-74 Game 2 win and didn't tape the broadcast, here's a clip put together by Cheesecake Productions, the Storm video partner.
Before anointing Little, I had to think about the past 10 years to be sure this could really be called "The Shot." And I'm tagging it as such because of significance and improbability.
"When you're down four, it's a unique situation because -- even though it's a playoff game -- there's no pressure," said Storm guard Sue Bird, who's three-pointer with 10.7 seconds left setup the final play. "You just gotta try and make a play. Nobody is expecting you to do it.
"We just hung around. That's the type of team we are, very resilient. In some ways we're lucky."
I also have to preface it as saying Little's performance with C Ashley during the in-arena spoof of Kanye West at the VMA's really broke the tension among the 8,854 fans. Again, she gave the crowd what they needed -- a good laugh so they could do their job in cheering on the team. Los Angeles noted today that Seattle really relies on its crowd.
"It was the shades," joked Little. "I just wanted to see the crowd's reaction to know if they knew what we were doing. I'm glad they enjoyed it."
Without further ado, here's "The Shot."
