Storm signs coach Brian Agler through 2011

Posted by Jayda Evans

AglerB.jpgThe Storm brass has long said coach Brian Agler (pictured right by USA Today) was its long-term leader on the court and made good on that statement, signing him to a contract through 2011 with an option to pickup a third season.

Agler was the first coach hired by the independent ownership, Force 10 Hoops, in January 2008. He led the team to a franchise-best 22-wins last season and another postseason berth this year. But Agler wasn't successful in the playoffs in 2008, continuing the Storm's string of four straight seasons of losing in the opening round.

The Storm will continue with a busy offseason, announcing plans to retain F Lauren Jackson, who said she would only play WNBA ball in Seattle, and the location of the team's new practice facility. The current one is becoming part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
