Storm All-Star Lauren Jackson short of 5K-point club

Posted by Jayda Evans

Storm forward Lauren Jackson (pictured right) is just one point from becoming the fourth player in WNBA history to score 5,000-points or more. She was off in her team's loss to Connecticut tonight, shooting 3 of 16 from the field. The Australian native entered the game averaging 19.3 points.

Jackson, 28, would be the youngest to hit the plateau. Facing Atlanta on Saturday, the two-time MVP should join a class with legends Katie Smith, Tina Thompson, and Lisa Leslie, who scored her 6,000th point this month.

In June, Jackson became the third player to accumulate 500-career blocks. When she hits the 5K mark, the feat would make her and Lisa Leslie the only players to have scored more than 5,000 points with more than 500 swats. Polish center Margo Dydek is the third player to have 500-blocks in WNBA history.
