Former Storm coach Anne Donovan now leading New York

All of the Storm's former head coaches are leading teams in the WNBA. Anne Donovan became the latest when she took over duties with New York after the Liberty fired Patty Coyle. New York is under achieving, riding a three-game losing streak and sitting last in the East at 6-11. Lin Dun, the Storm's first coach, is leading the East with Indiana at 14-4.
"We thank Patty for her contributions to the New York Liberty over the past 11 seasons; I have great personal and professional respect for her," said general manager Carol Blazejowski. "However, at this time I decided that a change was in the best interests of the team."
Timing is funny because I was just talking with centers Kamila Vodichkova and Simone Edwards for a piece about the Storm's All-Decade team. They mentioned the time with Donovan and winning a championship in 2004 as being the best of theirs in Seattle.
"I'm still wearing my ring," Edwards bragged, showing off the jewelry. She began her WNBA career in New York.
This is the second time Donovan has been an interim coach, first doing so in Indiana in 2000 while Nell Fortner coached the Olympic team. Donovan, who coached Team USA to gold in Beijing, has been looking to return to the league since abruptly leaving Seattle in November 2007.
