Storm celebrating 10 years

The Storm didn't orchestrate the Blue Angels fly-over, but it will feel like part of this weekend's Seafair festivities are for the basketball team. Seattle is officially celebrating 10 years in the WNBA on Saturday. The first 3,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster featuring the players, seven of which will be in attendance.
Indiana PG Tully Bevilaqua, Los Angeles G Betty Lennox, and Atlanta F Iziane Castro Marques are unable to make Saturday's game. But WNBA president Donna Orender and former Storm players Michelle Marciniak, Semeka Randall, Jamie Redd, Astou Ndiaye-Diatta, Sheri Sam, Kate Paye and Robin Threatt-Elliot will be around the arena. The players will sign autographs prior to tip-off.
The ceremony will be held during halftime with the inaugural co-owner, Ginger Ackerley, also being honored. She was pivotal in bringing the WNBA to Seattle.
On Friday, former Storm players will host a youth basketball clinic at Denny Playfield in South Lake Union. Redd, Simone Edwards, Kamila Vodichkova, Sam and Threatt-Elliot will provide instruction to clinic participants.
Boys and girls, ages 7-14, from the Montlake Community Center will attend the clinic. The event will open with a Q&A session from 11:30-11:40 a.m., followed by a basketball drills and skills session from 11:40 a.m.-12:20 p.m. To conclude the festivities, Storm legends will sign autographs from 12:20-12:30 p.m.
That night, fans can meet and congratulate members of the Storm's All-Decade Team from 7-9 p.m. at SPORT Restaurant & Bar. Attendees will be able to participate in a Q&A hosted by Storm play-by-play announcer Dick Fain and KOMO 4's Eric Johnson, get autographs from the current and former Storm stars, and enjoy extended happy hour beverages and appetizers for $3, as well as a special Storm drink.
As for the current team, it was practice as usual today. Seattle has a rematch against San Antonio on Saturday.
