Storm training camp: Swin Cash on the floor
Posted by Jayda Evans
Media is only allowed to see about the final 30 minutes of practice and normally that's scrimmaging with the male squad, so I didn't see Storm F Swin Cash (pictured right) in action. Coach Brian Agler said she looked good, however, in the non-contact drills today.
Cash, entering her second season in Seattle, is returning after outpatient back surgery in March. She arrived on Thursday and said she has been doing cardio work like boxing and workouts in the pool to help build her stamina. Cash will obviously need work on regaining her timing and shooting touch.
Agler said she'll see a rehabilitation specialist today and her progression is up to her.
"I was impressed by how live she is," Agler said. "She looked active and quick. She looked good running up and down the floor and it's just going to take her getting back into contact and getting the ball in her hands and getting into the flow.
"She seems to be feeling pretty good, but it's going to be on her. It's not going to be us telling her what to do, she's going to have to tell us what she can do."
CUTS UPDATE: Both G Kimberly Beck and G/F Mara Freshour were cut on Friday. Agler said both plan to play overseas, but it's too early to know where. The Storm will also keep an eye on their development in case an opportunity pops up in the future.
AUSSIE BALL: Here's an interesting story about how Australia is still trying to regain its basketball popularity.
