Disney's newest cruise ship arrives in Florida
The new 4,000-passenger Disney Dream cruise ship rrives in Florida; will offer cruises to Bahamas starting Jan. 26
PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — Disney Cruise Line's newest ship has arrived at its Florida port.
Fireworks lit the morning sky as the 4,000-passenger Disney Dream chugged into Port Canaveral Tuesday. It traveled 6,500 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from a ship yard in Bremerhaven, Germany.
It's the Disney line's third ship and the first new one in more than a decade. The maiden voyage is set for Jan. 26.
The Disney Dream is scheduled to sail three-, four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas, from Port Canaveral. It's the first of two new ships to join the Disney fleet, with the Disney Fantasy set to debut in April 2012.
The Dream boasts first-of-their-kind features such as a shipboard "water coaster" and virtual portholes in inside staterooms that provide a real-time view outside the ship.
