The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has set up an online form for travelers to report any problems they have with the use of full-body scanners at airport security checkpoints.

The scanning machines create a nude image displayed on a monitor viewed remotely by a Transportation Security Administration agent. The scanners — due to be installed at Sea-Tac airport this fall — screen for objects that could be hidden under clothing.

The technology has raised privacy worries and health concerns over small amounts of X-ray radiation that one type of the new scanners emits.

Although the screening is supposed to be voluntary (travelers who opt out are given thorough pat-downs and directed to walk through metal detectors), some travelers report they aren't being given a choice.

The EPIC, which has filed a lawsuit to stop the scanning program, is gathering information about travelers' experiences.
