Looking for advice on what to see close to home?
Washington State Tourism recently launched "Excellent Washington Adventures," an online forum where travelers can share their favorite destinations and experiences around the state.
Travelers can post stories, recommendations and photos. Gov. Chris Gregoire has contributed to the website, www.experiencewa.com/adventures, recommending Stehekin on Lake Chelan and the Walla Walla wine country.
"My family loves to spend time outdoors, and one of our favorite getaways is Stehekin, Washington," wrote Gov. Gregoire, who also included an outdoorsy photo of herself. "At the gateway to the North Cascades National Park, this remote wilderness area is accessible only by boat, plane or trail. We enjoy hiking the trails at Stehekin to Rainbow Falls, a magnificent 312-foot waterfall."
Travelers can browse for Washington adventures based on "top rated" or by category, such as "Wine and Cuisine" and "Family Fun" or by location.
