Reader postcard from Punakha, Bhutan

A weekly feature of readers' travel photos.

Location: Punakha, Bhutan

Photographer: Sam Sharar, Bainbridge Island

Photographer's description: The Punakha Dzong is a historic Buddhist monastery in Bhutan. Established in the 1600s, it is the winter home of the country's Buddhist leader. We visited in May in a collaboration between the University of Washington Burn Center, Seattle-based Global Burn Care and Reconstructive Institute and the Bhutanese government to develop a burn-care and prevention program in this spectacular Himalayan kingdom.

Submit your travel photos from around the world online at seattletimes.com/travelpostcards. If your photo is from the Pacific Northwest, upload it at seattletimes.com/weekendphotos.
