Q: We are headed for Long Beach, Pacific County, and understand that the Ark restaurant is closed. Any recommendations for restaurants on the Long Beach Peninsula?

A: Here are some dining ideas:
The Ark restaurant, which was nationally known, indeed is closed, and it's not clear if or when it will reopen. However, its former owners have opened a deli called Jimella's on the peninsula in Klipsan Beach, and are just opening a bistro there offering dinner (360-665-4847).
Other restaurants:
• I've enjoyed the 42nd St. Cafe in Seaview. It's a casual yet serious-about-food restaurant that offers everything from razor clams, wild salmon and mussels to pasta and steak (360-642-2323).
• Another more elegant restaurant is the Shelburne Inn (360-642-4150). (There's also the more casual Shelburne pub).
• The Port Bistro in Ilwaco, with waterfront views, specializes in seasonal foods, including local seafood (360-642-8447). (The restaurant's phone message asks diners not to wear perfume or any scents since the chef is chemically sensitive.)
