Long Beach restaurants
Q: We are headed for Long Beach, Pacific County, and understand that the Ark restaurant is closed. Any recommendations for restaurants on the Long Beach Peninsula?
— Judy Morgan, Poulsbo
A: Here are some dining ideas:
The Ark restaurant, which was nationally known, indeed is closed, and it's not clear if or when it will reopen. However, its former owners have opened a deli called Jimella's on the peninsula in Klipsan Beach, and are just opening a bistro there offering dinner (360-665-4847).
Other restaurants:
• I've enjoyed the 42nd St. Cafe in Seaview. It's a casual yet serious-about-food restaurant that offers everything from razor clams, wild salmon and mussels to pasta and steak (360-642-2323).
• Another more elegant restaurant is the Shelburne Inn (360-642-4150). (There's also the more casual Shelburne pub).
• The Port Bistro in Ilwaco, with waterfront views, specializes in seasonal foods, including local seafood (360-642-8447). (The restaurant's phone message asks diners not to wear perfume or any scents since the chef is chemically sensitive.)
You can find good descriptions of many more Long Beach restaurants on the Web site of the Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau, www.funbeach.com/restaurants/.
