Software pioneer Charles Simonyi to take another space flight

The Medina billionaire, dubbed the "father of Microsoft Word" is taking second flight with Space Adventures

A space-tourism company says Washington software billionaire Charles Simonyi plans to become the first private traveler to make a second trip to space

The 60-year-old Simonyi flew to the International Space Station with a Russian crew in April 2007. The 13-day trip cost him $25 million.

The Virginia-based Space Adventures says Simonyi, who lives in Medina, now plans to go back with another Russian crew in 2009. It did not say how much Simonyi will pay. Simonyi is a software engineer who helped develop Microsoft Word and Excel.

Space Adventures began arranging for private clients individuals to travel with astronauts going to and from the International Space Station in 2001.

Its sixth client — Richard Garriott, son of NASA astronaut Owen Garriott — is due to fly to space on Oct. 12.
