California made history this past week by sanctioning same-sex marriages, and gay and lesbian couples rushed to tie the knot.
Not only is the state letting its own residents say "I do," but same-sex couples from around the country can marry in California. (Massachusetts legalized same-sex marriage in 2004, but has residency restrictions.)
Thousands of Californians and same-sex couples from across the United States are expected to marry in California in the coming months. The rush to the altar may be short-lived, however, as California voters will face a ballot initiative this fall to ban same-sex marriages.
For now, the celebrations and the ceremonies are in full swing. And it could usher in a same-sex tourism boom as couples flock to California to marry. Who's getting behind this new bandwagon, and where are the happy couples spending their honeymoons?
