Parts of Stanley Park, the very popular park in downtown Vancouver, B.C., were devastated in a December windstorm that snapped off or uprooted thousands of trees, including this giant. A section of the park's Seawall walk and some forest trails remain closed because of damage, although the aquarium and all restaurants and other facilities are open. A $9 million restoration is beginning this spring.
